Rocket League Announces New DLC: Neo Tokyo

Rocket League is releasing a “cyberpunk dystopia” inspired update that will contain both free and paid content. The highlight of this update is the new map, “Neo Tokyo”. This arena is a copy of “Underpass,” the two levelled map that has been in the Rocket Labs playlist for quite some time. “Underpass” will be replaced by “Pillars,” a map that will divide the court into three sections with massive walls. “Neo Tokyo” takes a new spin the design, putting the players right in the middle of tokyo. The environment looks incredibly detailed and immersive as you can clearly see in the trailer:

Also appearing in this update are twenty new “Rare” and “Very Rare” items that will be added into circulation as well as a new trade-in feature where you will be able to exchange items for ones that are more rare. These items are now also going to be able to be colored with the new addition of painted items. The next part may just be my favorite aspect of the update: POST GAME CELEBRATIONS. The winning team now has a few seconds after the game to show off just like you do after you score a goal. I know it’s minor but flipping like a lunatic after you score a goal is all too satisfying. This update will be released on June 20th for free along with the paid DLC on July 18.

The paid DLC that will be released is two new cars, the Masamune and the Esper. The Masamune looks like an upgraded version of the Takumi while the Esper looks like an futuristic version of the Scarab: Looks like I’ll be seeing you people in Japan, look for my Masamune!
