Last year I came across an indie game by Facepalm. The game was called The Swapper, a sci-fi puzzle game. I was immediately hooked by this creepy little gem on the psn library! It was a great few hours of amazing story telling using the sci-fi genre.

‘Killing for the Sake of Killing’ should be the underlying title of this game. Postal Redux is a HD remake of the classic Postal game. The description of the game says that you control the Postal Dude as he fights to survive in a world gone mad with violence. However, when I play this game, I feel like a psychopath…

Still Not Burnt Out

Burnout 3 is the game I always come back to. I’ve cashed out my games collection before, yet I always buy this game when I come back, and it never gets boring. A few months ago I reviewed the sixth game in the Burnout franchise, Burnout Paradise. I stated that it was the pinnacle of the series, I’d like to eat my words.

Final Fantasy VII remains one of my favourite games of all time and many other people agree with me. Released way back in 1997 FFVII is now getting on for twenty years old, and it still holds as much charm today as it did then. How many other RPG’s can claim to have a remake? And by remake I mean a remake of the original game, not just slapping a new number after the title on a new game.

A Silent Downpour

I am a huge fan of the Silent Hill series and I have played almost all of the games available. I have my favorites and my not so favorites. One in particular I found to be the second best in the series, yet not many fans would agree. I’m talking about the eighth game, Downpour.

We’re at a point in time where gaming is becoming closer and closer to reality every day. VR is on the horizon, the PS4 ½ is almost upon us, and every new game boasts top of the line graphics and hyper realism. Why then, am I still happy playing the PS4’s predecessors’ predecessor?

Every franchise has its peaks and valleys. Doom, Halo, you pick. The Tomb Raider franchise is no exception. But, in its most recent incarnation, Rise of the Tomb Raider, the series has reached new heights unlike anything since its 1996 debut. 

Dark Sector is a game I had very high hopes for. I named it as a potential sleeper in one of my hidden gems articles and couldn’t wait to explore the sheer brutality and bleak environments that were received with such horror in Australia that the game was delayed and heavily censored.

…now you can play a video game about playing video games and recording them (That’s some real inception there, actually you’re reading an article on a video game about playing video games and recording them for other people to watch).

It must have been sixteen years ago by now. God that makes me feel old. When I was about ten years of age, I somehow got my greasy, little paws on a copy of Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action for the original Playstation. Suddenly everything else in my life became meaningless…

There is something about an arcade style button smasher that appeals to the more primal aspects of human nature. The execution is simple while the returning satisfaction (or frustration) exceeds it tenfold.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is something rather new to the RPG world. Although most RPG would fall into more the fantasy category as well, Kingdom Come: Deliverance falls more into the historical section of RPG’s. This means we have a purely medieval background with no magic and no dragons.

Leaves A Bad Taste

So I made that mistake again, that awful, gut-wrenching mistake. I bought a copy of a game created by Data Design Interactive. The company have been responsible for many of the worst and most difficult moments of my life…

Until Dawn is the type of game I’m beginning to gravitate towards more so than RPGs. It is a game that presents one thing above all, player choice. More importantly, the choices it allows you to make are one’s like blasting someone you don’t like in the fucking face.

After a scientific experiment led by a more-than-a-little-mad scientist goes slightly awry, a tiny blob of grey goo escapes into a nearby time machine, and gets transported back into prehistoric times. This time-travelling blob has an insatiable appetite, and wants to eat anything smaller than itself…

One thing I’ve noticed is one Telltale Game that gets swept under the rug by the other games in their line-up such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. And that game, dear readers, is Jurassic Park: The Game.

The Club Review (Ps3)

Fast-paced and full to the brim with adrenaline, The Club was an early PS3 release from SEGA, and an attempt at a series too. A sequel was talked about for a while but due to the developing team departing from SEGA, it disintegrated. What’s left with us is a mega-promising third person shooter title like no other.

In the age when the infinite warfare’s of the world release games that they already know a large portion of their audience does not want, Overwatch comes as a breath of fresh air. This game does have its ups and downs but, Overwatch is another posterchild for Blizzard being Blizzard.

Stranglehold Review (Ps3)

Much like the Ted Nugent song of the same name, Stranglehold makes you feel like a total badass. The sequel to John Woo action flick Hard Boiled features Chow Yun-Fat reprising his role as Detective Tequila. Stranglehold is a lot of fun.

There are certain clichés that are inescapable. In horror, the term “cliché” has almost become one in and of itself. It’s reached a point where audiences have come to ironically cherish these all too familiar hallmarks of the genre.
