Breached Review

Breached is a Sci-Fi mystery game developed by Drama Drifters that released 22nd of June for $6.99 or £4.99. Is it worth it?

In Breached you play as Corus Valott, he awakes from a cryogenic chamber to find that the place he called home has been destroyed and abandoned by some unknown entity. You spend most of the game exploring old settlements and giant alien looking buildings that are long forgotten and have crumbled to ruins. The aim of the game is to repair the generator and refuel the ecosystem you are in. You harvest resources and capsules from the settlements using drones that you see out of with your own eyes.

There are enemies of a sort in Breached; you encounter these blobs of light anomalies that instantly terminate the connection with your drone when you come into contact with them. This will cause massive amounts of interference. The story is told through logs, you unlock more fragments of story as the few days you have go by and from clicking on hash-tagged words at the bottom. In order to fuel your shelter you have to combine certain amounts of 3 different materials that you acquire through exploring with the drones. These materials are Alpha, Beta and Gamma. You have to mix them up with a certain amount of each resource but as far as I know, you do this randomly until you get it. You only have 8 days to repair the generator and to refuel the shelter and you end up racing the clock pretty early on.

The art for Breach as amazing, As you can probably tell from the screenshots the world is so unique and the ruins you find are beautiful which is to be expected for an Unreal 4 game. And even though it’s Unreal 4 it’s really well optimised for weaker computers like mine.  Even with the graphics which are visually stunning, the soundtrack is also really well done and is definitely going into my “Great Game Music” playlist.

This is the pilot game for Drama Drifters and I’m pretty impressed with what they’ve done, the game is a nice slow-paced story rich game with a mystery in a deserted world. There are multiple endings so it is replayable. I do recommend it’s very small asking price for what will probably be a solid 6-8 hour experience if your going for 100% completion.
