New Mount & Blade game around corner?

In 2010 on the 30th of March a legend was born.

M&B: Warband is a beautiful classic that to this day still has an active community and an army of fan boys; it’s the game that was ahead of its time and still evolved to fit the time as it went on. The game has so many mods it’s crazy, including HD retextures or redesigned combat and AI, or re-doing the entire faction system to be more realistic or 1000’s of new sets of armor, weapons and horses.

You are thrown into a sandbox full of bandits, kings & queens, factions, a huge arsenal of weaponry and damsels all at your disposal; it’s like living in a medieval fantasy and riding into battle however you wish.

You have the complete freedom to travel the land and gather up troops and train them to your own liking, want an army of archers raining arrows onto your foes until they turn into pin cushions or are you the type to storm with your squad of knights on horse trampling your foes a you scream like madman swinging your spear from side to side?

You can live as a bandit and steal from villages and burn them to the ground and rebel the factions or you can take sides in the war and help them take over the continent, or even just take it over yourself if you feel like it?

Anyway I’m not here to talk about Warband; I’m here to inform you of its absolutely mind-blowing sequel that is literally just around the corner, it was announced all the way back in 2012 and has been in development since.

Technically it’s kind of a prequel considering it takes place 200 years before the events of Warband. At the moment we know that the game’s graphics have been significantly improved since Warband, including better shading and higher detail models. The character animations have been created utilizing motion capture technology and the facial animations have been refined immensely.

Gameplay related features have also been upgraded with a new inventory interface and better artificial intelligence, it’s just going to be the game of the year in my opinion. My only concern is that it’s only going to be released on PC, I would also love to see this game release on consoles, they are really missing out on the Mount and Blade experience.

You know what the best bit is, it’s scheduled to release in 2016 sometime in autumn, see I was not kidding when I said it was just around the corner.

I’m going to sell my cat if I don’t have the cash for a pre-order, I have not been keeping track of the development considering it started 4 years ago and I was recently enlightened with this awesome news by a guy called James.

Everything about it screams amazing, they really took into consideration what the fans wanted from the release and took it to heart, with many exciting and highly requested new features including up-close and personal medieval combat on a huge scale, bigger, bloodier and more intense than ever before, along with Taleworlds promising they are going to be incorporating aspects from mods that improved Warband. Oh and they mentioned along the way that it’s going to be really supportive of the modding community (See rockstar, GTA 5 on PC should have been like this, here’s how you market a PC game) I’m really looking forward to reviewing it.
