GoT “Home” Review

MAJOR SPOILERS:

Well Kit Harrington, you lying bastard, Jon Snow has been resurrected. Perhaps you didn’t lie and he has simply re-risen as Azur Ahai. That’s quite the rabbit hole to dive down though, so we can leave that as speculation.

Moving on to the other important things, Tyrion has made a few new friends now that he unchained the dragons. Maybe this is the first step towards his ultimate goal of becoming dwarf-king of Westeros or maybe he did it for the shits and giggles. What we did learn in Mereen however was that Daenerys’ work across the merry little land of slave owners has largely been undone. This means that She has at least another season of dicking around in the only place more shit than the middle east before returning home and being slaughtered by Zombies. That or she’ll just die of old age. Honestly, the latter is becoming more and more likely.

There was some heartwarming stuff with the Lannisters, the only family to make incest look cool since that show about logging in the south was on the discovery channel. Jaime almost had a bloody confrontation at the funeral of his daughter, meaning he is both willing to murder and fuck next to his child’s corpse. I almost respect the man’s complete disregard for the decomposing remains of his wedlock, incest children. Wonderful parenting, that.

Besides that, we got our first peek at the past, and Brandon Stark’s hiatus has ended. That line was boring enough to be dropped for more time than some shows get all together, so I don’t feel the need to delve too deep into it.

Journey back to the past, when people still cared about your plot line.  Journey back to the past, when people still cared about your plot line.

So all in all, this was a definite improvement over last week’s episode. While everyone knew Jon Snow would return, I still jumped out of my seat as he woke back up. Many plot lines still need resolving, though. My main fear is that for the resolutions to be fulfilling, the show would have to go on much longer. It’ll be interesting to see where things go from here, especially now that no book pricks can spoil it. Damn intelligent people with their knowledge.

8/10
